Parent Council and Parent Society
A School Council is a team of parents, guardians, caregivers, and school staff who work together to strengthen the school community and enhance the educational experience for all students. Any parent or guardian with a child registered at the school is automatically a School Council member — which means you already have a voice and are welcome to participate at any time.
School Council acts as a bridge between families and the school, creating a space where ideas are shared, questions are welcomed, and collaboration leads to meaningful impact. From hot lunches and spirit wear to family events and special projects, many of the opportunities that enrich student life are supported through School Council. Being involved is positive, collaborative, and rewarding — you meet other families, see your ideas come to life, and make a tangible difference in students’ experiences. No special skills or unlimited time required — every contribution matters. When families and schools work together, students thrive.
Feel free to follow the Ormsby School Council Instagram page for all the upcoming events and important information:
A Parents’ Society is the fundraising and financial branch that works alongside School Council to support and enhance the school experience for all students. While School Council focuses on community voice and collaboration — and all parents and guardians are automatically members — Parents’ Society requires you to formally sign up as a member in order to attend official meetings, vote on important decisions, and take part in financial matters.
Parents’ Society is responsible for organizing fundraisers, managing funds and ensuring financial transparency and accountability. It’s the group that helps turn great ideas into reality by raising and responsibly allocating money for things like playground enhancements, technology, classroom resources, field trips, hot lunch programs, and special school initiatives.
Being part of Parents’ Society is meaningful and empowering — you have a direct say in how fundraising dollars are spent and help guide decisions that impact every student. Whether you volunteer at events, join discussions, or take on a leadership role, your involvement makes a tangible difference. When families step forward to support both the vision and the financial health of the school, incredible opportunities are created for our children.
